ORIGIN
Sophia Lillis is an American film and television actress. She’s best known for her role as “Beverly Marsh” in the horror film It (2017). Her film credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2014), and 37 (2017). She was cast in the upcoming HBO series Sharp Objects. Lillis was born on February 13, 2002, in Brooklyn, New York. Her parents are separated. She’s being raised by her mother, Juliana, and step-father Christopher Mellevold. she also has a step-brother named Philip. Lillis studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in Manhattan, New York.

CAREER
Lillis developed an interest in acting at a young age. When she was 7 she starred in her stepfather’s film class project ‘Virgil’s Day Off’. The film was based on Dante’s Inferno. After that, she enrolled and began taking acting classes at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. Lillis starred as “Addie” in the short film The Lipstick Stain (2013). The film was done by an NYU student and she was recommended for the role by one of her teachers. Lillis made her feature film debut in the comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2014). She was cast as “Rude Elemental”. The film was directed by Julie Taymor and stars Kathryn Hunter, David Harewood, and Tina Benko. Her next film role was as “Debbie Bernstein” in the drama, 37 (2016). The film was directed by Puk Grasten and stars Samira Wiley. In 2016, Lillis appeared in 2 more short films ‘The Garden’ and ‘Tiny Mammals’.

Lillis rose to prominence as “Beverly March” in the horror film It (2017). The film is an adaptation of Stephen King’s 1986 novel of the same name. It was directed by Andy Muschietti and stars Jaeden Lieberher as “Bill Denbrough”, Bill Skarsgard as “Pennywise the Dancing Clown” and Jeremy Ray Taylor as “Ben Hanscom”. Lillis was cast as ‘Young Camille Preaker’ in the upcoming HBO television series Sharp Objects. The adult version of ‘Camille Preaker’ is played by actress Amy Adams.
