The global semiconductor shortage hurt Mercedes Benz in 2021, and it lost its crown as the global premium automobile brand (based on sales figures) to BMW, its arch-rival. However, this by no means implies that the German powerhouse is down and out. The company still managed to deliver an impressive 2.4 million vehicles in 2021, with Mercedes-Maybach, Mercedes-AMG, and G-Class brands all achieving new sales records.

Here, we cover the pricing of all Mercedes Benz vehicles (excluding vans). However, this being a performance automobile website, the focus is on its Mercedes-AMG division, the fabled unit built on the well-known 'One Man, One Engine' philosophy. It's not quite the story anymore for Mercedes-AMG; the volumes no longer justify hand-building every engine unit, and only the top-spec AMG cars get this treatment.

However, wearing that AMG badge is still pretty special as it represents the peak of the carmaker's engineering excellence and performance quality. It is a belief shared by customers. In 2021, 145,979 Mercedes-AMG models were delivered, an increase of 16.7% over the previous year and a new sales record.

For 2023, Mercedes pruned a lot of the AMG lineup globally, trimming away coupes, convertibles, sedans, wagons and SUVs that were underperforming in sales or were simply at end-of-life for production. However, a lot of new all-electric vehicles have been released, both as Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG models. These new electric cars cover almost every segment, from small, efficient coupes, to executive sedans, and both CUV and SUV styles, as part of Mercedes' plan to produce 80% or more of their model lineup as electric-only by 2030.
