As with all online games, errors hit World of Warcraft all the time. One pesky bug is keeping players from logging in to the Dragonflight expansion, leaving them stuck on the connecting screen. The error has become widespread, with several players saying they have come across the new glitch and are unable to play the expansion. Facing an error that prevents you from playing the game is always rough, but is there any way to fix this problem on your end, or will you have to wait for the developers to fix the servers?

Can you fix the connecting screen error in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight?

Blizzard has reported an issue affecting its authentication servers for Battle.net, which may result in failed or slow login attempts. This issue has affected almost every game on the Battle.net servers, including Call of Duty and World of Warcraft. Since the problem stems from Blizzard’s servers, it’s likely there’s nothing for you to do until the developers fix it on their end. If you wait long enough, your game may eventually connect and log you into Dragonflight.

There was another similar issue plaguing Dragonflight in 2022 when players suffered from a stuck-on-a-loading screen error. The loading error prevented players from logging into Dragonflight. The origin of the stuck on a loading screen error is the same as the stuck on the connecting screen error; Blizzard’s authentication servers were affected by something, and the developers needed to fix it. Before Blizzard fixed the servers and stopped the loading screen error, the Blizzard Support page offered potential solutions to fix the problem.

According to the Blizzard Support webpage, to fix the long loading screen error, you could:

  • Reset your user interface to make sure your files and addons are not corrupted.
  • Close all other applications to resolve software conflicts and free up resources.
  • Troubleshoot your connection to resolve any network issues.
  • Run the repair tool to repair any damaged game files.

    • These same methods can be used to potentially fix the stuck-on-the-connecting-screen error players are facing. If these methods don’t work, you will have to wait for Blizzard to solve the issue.
