ORIGIN
Dua Lipa is an English singer, songwriter, and model of Albanian descent. She holds the honor of having three different singles simultaneously charting in the U.K. She was born on August 22, 1995, in London, England. Dua was raised by Kosovo-Albanian parents. At an early age, she moved back and forth between Kosovo and England before finally settling in London at age fifteen. She grew up listening to her father Dukagjin, a Kosovan singer, and developed her taste for music. Dua considers her father to be her biggest inspiration. In London, she attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School. At the age of fourteen, she began doing YouTube covers of famous artists, the likes of Christina Aguilera, Pink, and Nelly Furtado. Dua also ventured into modeling at the age of sixteen. Apart from music, she did other jobs such as working in nightclubs to make ends meet. Her interest in modeling earned her airtime as she starred in an X-Factor commercial.

CAREER
Dua Lipa’s demo eventually caught the attention of producers and earned her a contract. In 2015, she started working on her debut album for Warner Music Group. Her first single “New Love” was released in August followed by “Be The One” released in October of 2015. “Be The One” became very popular across Europe; charting in various countries. As her music gained popularity, she began doing tours and holding venues. The single “Hotter Than Hell,” released in February 2016, received worldwide attention.

The hit single peaked at #15 in the U.K and set the stage for future chart-toppers. Her next single “Blow Your Mind (Mwah)” would hit the US Billboards peaking at #23 on the Mainstream Top 40 chart. Throughout her endeavors, Dua collaborated with the likes of Sean Paul and Martin Garrix. Her studio album was launched in June of 2017. Hit single “New Rules” became number one throughout the U.K. She joined Adele as the first female solo artist to grace the #1 spot in almost two years. The song easily became her best-selling single to date. Dua Lipa is expected to perform at the 2018 Brit Awards in February.
