Don Lemon is an Emmy Award-winning American journalist, television personality, and author. He currently hosts CNN Tonight every weeknight from 10 pm to midnight. He also serves as a news anchor for CNN out of New York City. Lemon’s screen credits include Zoolander 2 (2016), Into the Storm, and Black-ish. His memoir ‘Transparent’ was published in 2011. Don Lemon was born to Katherine Clark on March 1, 1966, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He has a sister named Yma. Another sister, Leisa, died in January 2018 from accidental drowning. Lemon attended Baker High School followed by Brooklyn College. He graduated in 1996 with a BA degree in broadcast journalism. He also took classes at Louisiana State University.

CAREER
While still in college, Lemon worked as a news assistant for New York City’s WNYW. He worked as a weekend anchor for WBRC (Birmingham), WCAU (Philadelphia), and KTVI (St. Louis). Back in New York, Lemon served as a correspondent for NBC News, NBC Nightly News, and The Today Show. In addition to his reporting duties, Lemon worked as an anchor on MSNBC and Weekend Today. He served as a co-anchor/reporter for NBC5 News from 2003 to 2005.

Lemon joined CNN in September 2006. He reported out of Chicago where he covered stories leading up to the 2008 presidential election. He interviewed a number of prominent figures such as Chicago’s Rahm Emanuel. Lemon covered the 2015 Charleston Church shooting, the 2016 Pulse Nightclub shooting, and the 2013 Boston marathon bombing. He’s covered several other stories, including the death of Freddie Gray, the death of Whitney Houston, and the inaugural of the 44th President in Washington. Lemon made guest appearances on the series Black-ish, Empire, and The Jim Gaffigan Show. He had a cameo in the comedy film Zoolander 2 (2016) starring Ben Stiller. Lemon currently serves as a news anchor for CNN in New York City. He hosts the news/opinion program ‘CNN Tonight’ every weeknight at 10 pm.

In 2009, Lemon was named one of the most influential Blacks in America by Ebony magazine. He won an Emmy Award for his coverage of the real estate market in the state of Chicago. He’s won several other accolades, including the Edward R. Murrow Award. Lemon’s first book ‘Transparent’ was released in May 2011 by Farrah Gray Publishing.
