Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu (born 29 March 1952), expertly addressed as the Jagaban of Lagos, is a 71 years old Nigerian politician and businessman.
He is also an Elder Statesman and a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He served as the 12th Governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007
Bola Tinubu is regarded as the godfather of many Nigerian politicians, including being mentors to aspiring ones.

Early Life and Education
Bola Tinubu was born on 29 March 1952 in Osun State into the prestigious Tinubu family as his mother, Abibatu Mogaji a trader, later became the Ìyál’ọ́jà of Lagos.
He did his initial formal education at St. John’s Primary School, Aroloya, Lagos, and Children’s Home School in Ibadan, South West of Nigeria.

After that, Bola Tinubu was sent to study at Richard J. Daley College in Chicago, Illinois, and then at Chicago State University to further his education.
He graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
Career
Before his return to Nigeria, Bola Tinubu worked with Top firms like Deloitte, Arthur Anderson, and GTE Services Corporation in the US. After his return to Nigeria in 1983, he secured a job with Mobil Oil, Nigeria, where he later rose to the position of an executive in the company.
However, he began his political career in 1992, serving as the senator representing the Lagos West constituency in the short-lived Third Republic of Nigeria. After the annulment of the June 12 election, Bola Tinubu founded the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) with some other well-meaning Nigerians, a group poised with the restoration of democracy and recognition of the 12 June results.
In 1994, Bola Tinubu fled Nigeria amidst arrests and torture and later returned in 1998 after Sani Abacha‘s death.
In 1999, Bola Tinubu contested and won the election for the office of the governor of Lagos state under the umbrella of the Alliance for Democracy (AD).
In April 2003, he was re-elected for the second term and served until 2007. Bola Tinubu is currently the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party under the President Muhammadu Buhari led-government.
Personal Life
Bola Tinubu is married to Oluremi Tinubu, who is the current senator of the Lagos Central Senatorial District. The marriage is blessed with four children, but one is late.
He has been identified as being an adherent of the Muslim faith. His mother, Abibatu Mogaji, reportedly died on 15 June 2014 at the age of 96.
His children are Seyi Tinubu, Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, Jide Tinubu, and Abibat Tinubu.
